Getting Organized
Ever find yourself so busy that you can not think straight? You have papers with notes stuffed in your bag, in your pockets, on your desk, in folders and pretty much everywhere else? Are you sometimes so disorganized you can not figure out who you are or where you are suppose to be? That use to be me all the time, until I found Evernote.
Evernote is software that allows you to save your ideas, your conversations, your own ramblings, your pictures, your favorite web pages, and pretty much anything else you can think of that you want to make a “note” of. The best part of Evernote, is it is anywhere you are. They have apps for most mobile devices and computers and all notes are synched up whether you are using it on your phone, your tablet, or your PC. This app is much more than a note application and is more of a life management tool. I think this is the most powerful information organization tool that I have found at a price I find most enjoyable. FREE.
Evernote is like a binder, a very large binder, without the back breaking weight of carrying that very large binder around. Notes can be comprised of text, audio, images, and files and you can add as many notes as you want and organize them in a notebook so that all related notes are together. You can then share that notebook with your family, friends, or colleagues. You can create a notebook stack and group notebooks together that may be related but maybe you only want to share certain parts of your notes with someone and not all of your notes. Have an email message that you want to add to a notebook? Not a problem, email it directly to your Evernote notebook. [Learn how to email to Evernote]
Here are some ways you can use Evernote:
Scrapbook
Photo Album
Checklists
Comparison Shopping
Wish List
Event Planner
Track Receipts
Store Handwritten Notes
Recipes
Blog Ideas
A premium option is available for Evernote allowing you to do monthly upload up to 1 GB rather than 60 MB. It will also allow you to take an entire notebook offline for easy access when you do not have an internet connection and will get rid of the advertising that you see when using this app.
I started using Evernote in September 2011 and am still a FREE user. I am using this on the iPhone 4, iPad 2, and windows pcs and laptops using either IE 8 or FireFox 10 and have not had any issues on these platforms. I have told you why I like Evernote and I am positive that I have not begun to unleash the full power of this organizational tool.
