Free Credit Scores and Credit Tools
I found another site that allows you to view your credit score and provides you with some tools for managing your credit. This site is Credit Karma. This site is very similar to Credit Sesame which I talked about in an earlier post. I found this site near Thanksgiving and signed up for it jut to see how it compares to Credit Sesame. While there is much overlap between the two sites the look and layout of Credit Karma were easier to navigate.
Credit Karma gets their information from Trans Union while Credit Sesame gets their information from Experian, so I did find some differences in the items that were reported in addition to a small difference in my Credit Score with both services. Neither service is sending me any junk mail and both of them are free to use and no credit card or subscription are required to sign up.
Both services monitor your credit and will make recommendations for you based the information they got from the credit bureau they have a relationship with. Both claim they will never share your information with third parties or even their partners without your explicit permission. Both websites are participants in the TRUSTe Privacy Seal Program, an independent organization whose mission is to advance privacy and trust in the networked world.
I have decided both sites are very worthwhile in helping me manage my debt and giving me a clear picture of where I stand in my creditworthiness.
