What is the “Average American Family”?
What determines you are part of an “Average American Family”? Is it whether or not you are married or single? Divorced? A single parent? Does it matter how many children you have (or don’t have)? How much money you make in a year? How much debt you have? How much money you have saved or invested? The car you drive? The number of vacations you take each year? If you own or rent your home?
What you think determines the “Average American Family” may differ from what I think is the Average American Family or what your neighbor or friend thinks is the Average American Family. Regardless of what anyone thinks makes up the “Average American Family,” the one thing we are all concerned with is money. Are we making enough? Are we saving enough? Can I afford the deductible on my health insurance? Will we be able to put our child/ren through college? Will we have enough to retire? When will we be able to take a vacation? What will I do if my car finally dies? We all feel the pressure at some point during our lives to make more money or find ways to save more money.
Health concerns are another thing everyone has in common. We all have to eat and we often worry, am I eating healthy enough? Could I be making healthier food choices? Does healthy food have to taste like cardboard? Our fitness levels…Am I getting enough exercise? I never have time to exercise. I am too tired to exercise. The numbers our doctors look at to determine our health, good and bad cholesterol levels, blood pressure, weight, sugar levels, BMI, and anything else they can look at.
Time. Now there’s a big one. Who ever feels like they have enough time? Nowadays most people try to cram in so many things in one day and with the advance of technology, there is never any down time. So time-saving tips are another thing we hope to share (and discover!).
And let’s not forget fun! Life is not very enjoyable if we do not take some time out of it to have fun and relax with our family and friends. Go on vacation and have adventures.
My siblings and I started this blog because each one of us thinks we are part of an “Average American Family”. We wanted to talk about the different items that interest each of us. Topics will range from saving money and finding good deals to health related issues to trying to save time to fun outings and quite probably random thoughts about just about anything you can think of!
We welcome you to join us on this new adventure as we journey through the triumphs, trials, and joys of being part of an Average American Family.
