In my house cereal is eaten for breakfast most of the time and recycles are only picked up once every 2 weeks.\u00a0 This ends up with us having many cereal boxes sitting in the recycle bin for up to 2 weeks.<\/p>\n

One day while eating Cheerios for breakfast, I had the box on the table with the back facing me and noticed the back was all yellow with the word \u201cSmile\u201d on it.\u00a0 About 10 weeks ago, my oldest had moved about 2 hours away from us due to a change in jobs.\u00a0 I was missing her that morning and had this idea to cut the back out and make it a postcard and send it to her with a small message so she would know I was thinking about her and that I love her.\u00a0 A couple days later the postcard was waiting for her and it made her smile.<\/br><\/p>\n

I thought the bright colors and designs on these boxes would make for some colorful postcards.\u00a0 Most children like to receive mail and what better way to save you some cash and brighten up a child\u2019s day than to get mail from someone they know and love. What grandparent or other relative would not want to get a quick note like this from a child they love?<\/p>\n

It does not take much time to cut these out and the postage is less than a regular letter.\u00a0 This would work for any boxes made out of card stock, not just cereal boxes.\u00a0\u00a0 The post office does have some guidelines you must follow when creating these postcards.\u00a0 They must be at least 3.5 inches tall and at least 5 inches in length.\u00a0 If they are smaller than this they are not mailable.\u00a0\u00a0 They can not be taller than 6 inches and no longer than 11.5 inches.<\/p>\n

<\/br><\/p>\n

If your postcard is between 3.5 and 4.25 inches tall and is between 5 and 6 inches long, you can mail this for $0.33.\u00a0 Between 4.25 and 6 inches tall and between 6 and 11.5 inches long, postage will be $0.46.<\/br><\/br><\/p>\n
